All Over Manhattan

Tony and Ben Take Manhattan.
Follow along as we blog from the Starbucks in Times Square, the Starbucks in Little Italy and the Starbucks near the Empire State Building—y’know, just like all real New Yorkers.

10. Dancing with Mr. D - The Rolling Stones, from the 1973 album Goats Head Soup. (Above version live in Brussels the same year.)

NYC reference: “Standing on a corner in New York City / Looking down a forty four in West Virginia”

This funk-infused track appropriately kicks off our top-10 list in two ways. First, it comes from Goats Head which, along with Some Girls, basically dominates in sheer volume of NYC references. Second, it appears in short form along with another geographical reference (West Virginia), something not unusual for the Stones.

Also, did you know that “Dancing with Mr. D” is CLEARLY a reference to Satan? Well, it is! (Mr. Devil! Ha!) Well…at least it is according to jesus-is-savior.com. (Link NSFW, assuming any respectable workplace would be offended by the juxtaposition of satanic imagery and terrible web design. There aren’t, like, naked chicks or anything - just one particularly distasteful Ozzfest poster.)

“I’m dancing, Lord, keep your hands off me!”

Enjoy…and stay tuned for EPIC NUMBER NINE later today!
